word from Anne:

This is absolutely the best yoga class I have ever gone to for stress reduction. The hour and a half long class consists of one hour of flow yoga, and a half hour of guided meditation. You can drop by to try this class at any time during the weeks it’s offered. Be sure to wear loose clothes, bring a yoga mat (or ask to borrow one of the loaner mats stored in the cabinets in the yoga room if you don’t have one), and a towel to cover up with for the guided meditation portion of the class.

The Yoga Class:

The yoga here starts with a general warm up to limber you up. It progresses to very basic poses that will allow for spinal decompression and muscular lengthening. The teacher does not come around the room to correct your form, students do as much or as little as they can, COMFORTABLY without resistance. The purpose is not so much to have absolute correctness of form, especially in that many people in this class are dealing with limitations from previous medical conditions or just the plain old aging process. The purpose of doing these exercises is not only to open the body but calm and open the mind.

Guided Meditation:

By the time you get to the half hour guided meditation, you will be READY to lie down! Dympna has an uncanny way of knowing JUST what to say during that portion of the class. As you lay on your mat, thankful just to be in your body, you will think she is speaking just to you, though there are up to 30 other people in the room! It will reconnect your body and mind, and leave you feeling refreshed and wondering why you don’t do it more often! You will undoubtedly leave the class in a BETTER state of mind, and rest peacefully that night.
